The challenge and the solution
Philips is a Dutch multinational headquartered in Amsterdam and is a global leader in health tech that offers innovative healthcare solutions. Philips was going through a big organizational change, which in addition to the day-to-day demands lead to increased stress, pressure and ambiguity for employees. Employees from HR, Marketing, Procurement, Communication, Legal, Sales, Finance and IT joined the 10-week-program, Manage your mind@work, to help reduce stress, improve wellbeing and increase effectiveness at work.
Results
The program received a 100% NPS score, a 9,9 average participant rating. Moreover to measure the effect of the program, participants took part in a pre-assessment, a post assessment at the end of the ten weeks and a second post-assessment nine months after the start of the program. The results of the program showed that:
Stress decreased with 46%
Attention and concentration improved with 36%
Wellbeing improved with 55%
Sleep improved by 50%
Self-efficacy improved with 19%
Work-life balance improved with 33%
Emotional regulation improved with 53%
Relationships and collaboration improved with 25%
Job and life satisfaction improved with 30%
Productivity and job performance increased with 22%.
With some small differences here and there, overall these results were still present seven months after completion of the program. And what is even more powerful than these numbers are the stories of personal transformation. People who participate in this training program state that it is “Life changing.” Other people say: “I have discovered the power of breathing and relaxing my mind and body to be able to cope with my thoughts, worries and tension.”; “It has improved my quality of life.”; “This course has connected me with my true self.”; “The program helped me to raise awareness on topics that are heavily impacting my life, such as for example multitasking.”; “Throughout the course I felt that my mind became calmer and clearer. I was better able to feel my emotions. Decisions were focused, my daily activities became more focused.”; “It brought a lot of awareness about myself physically and mentally and of those around me (and how they have impact on me and vice versa).”; “The program provides the tools and skills for making a real change and my perspective permanently changed.” And one of the participants shared a year after the program: “I really owe a great deal of my development last year to the power of mind training! After 15 years of being here I got my best ever performance appraisal score yet whilst actually spending less hours working ... a major win-win!”
